About

About three years ago, I decided to translate my passion for the game of basketball into a blog. While I spent alot of time working on blogger.com, eventually I realized I needed something a bit more robust. This led me to WordPress.

I’ve been playing and following basketball since the seventh grade. This was back in the days when the Chicago Bulls kept getting bounced out of the playoffs by the Detroit Pistons. I didn’t have a team at the time, and the combination of their underdog status against the Pistons and the brilliance of Michael Jordan led me to become a die hard Bulls fan. Eventually, the Bulls got past the Pistons and ultimately the Lakers on their way to the first of six NBA championships. Ultimately, Jordan retired (twice), Pippen got traded to Portland, and the team was dismantled. I then suffered through alot of years of poor play, and poor coaching, until the Bulls became respectable again.
This site is intended to be an outlet for my basketball interests, mostly blogging and statistical analysis in basketball. I suspect it will be a labor of love. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

One last note, the title of this site comes from the classic basketball movie Above The Rim (1994), starring Tupac Shakur, Leon, Marlon Wayans, Bernie Mac, and Duane Martin. While there may be better pure basketball movies: Hoosiers, Hoop Dreams, Basketball Diaries, Glory Road, etc., to this day this is still my favorite basketball movie. Maybe it’s nostalgia (I graduated high school the same year this came out). It’s a coming of age story that resonates with alot of us that grew up around that time. That said, enjoy the site and feel free to submit comments or suggestions.
